The Top 10 Amazon Listing Mistakes Killing Your Sales and How To Fix Them

In this video I break down the ten biggest listing mistakes that are quietly killing your Amazon sales. Most sellers think the solution is more ad spend. It’s not. If your listing does not convert, your PPC budget is being wasted. Ads bring traffic, but your listing closes the sale. These are the most common errors I see and the practical fixes you can apply straight away.

Weak Main Image

Your main image is your biggest click through driver. Poor lighting, cluttered backgrounds, or awkward angles kill performance. The fix is simple. Use a pure white background, fill most of the frame, keep it high resolution, and show scale where possible. If your image does not stop the scroll, you never get the click.

Keyword Stuffed or Vague Titles

Titles packed with keywords or written too vaguely both hurt performance. Lead with your primary keyword, include brand and key features, and keep it readable. It needs to work for the algorithm and for humans. Balance is everything.

Bullet Points That Do Not Sell

Bullets that are too short add no value. Bullets that are too long overwhelm. Aim for five clear points that focus on benefits first, then features. Make them easy to scan. Sell the outcome, not just the specification.

Ignoring A+ Content

Skipping A+ content is a missed opportunity. Use visuals, comparison charts, FAQs, and brand storytelling to reinforce trust. It acts like a landing page inside Amazon. Done properly, it can lift conversion significantly.

Poor Review Management

Many sellers only look at reviews when something goes wrong. Use the request a review feature and consider Vine for new products. Respond professionally to negative feedback and learn from it. Trust drives buying decisions.

Not Optimised For Mobile

Most traffic now comes from mobile. If your listing only looks good on desktop, you are losing sales. Check your bullets, A+ content, and key information on the Amazon app. Make sure important details are visible early and easy to read.

Generic Secondary Images

Uploading multiple angles of the same product is not enough. Use lifestyle shots, infographics, size guides, and comparison visuals. Every image should answer a question or remove an objection.

Empty or Duplicated Backend Keywords

Leaving backend search terms blank wastes opportunity. Fill them with relevant keywords that are not already used visibly. Avoid repetition and spam. Used properly, backend terms improve discoverability.

Poor Pricing Strategy

Pricing based purely on margin goals without looking at competitors hurts conversion. Benchmark against page one listings. Test small price adjustments. Use coupons strategically. Price is part of your conversion strategy.

Weak or Duplicated Description

Repeating bullet points in the description adds nothing. Use this space to expand your brand story, highlight use cases, answer common questions, and weave in secondary keywords naturally. It is your final persuasive opportunity.

Final Recap

If your sales are stalling, audit your listing against these ten areas. Fixing just a few of them can lift conversion rate and improve profitability quickly. Ads drive traffic, but listings drive revenue.
